Delete your BotLegger data
How to remove your data from your devices, and your BotLegger account if you have one.
Your data lives on your devices
Wyvern Systems LLC does not hold your bots, chats, files, or memories. Everything lives on your own devices, so deleting your data means deleting it there. A BotLegger account holds only your email, your choice about release emails, and a device list; see If you have a BotLegger account. Services you connect, such as Google, Microsoft, or GitHub, and the AI providers you use keep their own records under their own policies.
Delete your data in the app
- One bot: delete the bot to remove its local data, including its workspace and task history. Shared files and copies outside the bot may remain.
- Everything: open Settings → General → Reset & data and choose Reset entire app. It resets settings and removes every bot with its memories, tasks, and workspace. Reset settings to defaults instead clears linked accounts and provider keys but keeps your bots.
- Afterwards: check the data folder for shared files, exports, or custom files, and remove backups, synced copies, and exports separately.
Delete the data folder yourself
On macOS, Windows, and Linux, your library is the BotLegger folder in your Documents folder (~/Documents/BotLegger/) unless you chose another folder in Settings → General. The app also keeps its own working state in a separate folder:
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/com.botlegger.app/ - Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\com.botlegger.app\ - Linux:
$XDG_DATA_HOME/com.botlegger.app/, or~/.local/share/com.botlegger.app/
Quit BotLegger first, then delete both folders. API keys and connected-service tokens are kept in your system’s credential store (Apple Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, Linux Secret Service, or Android Keystore-backed encryption), so remove them there too, or use Reset settings to defaults in the app before you uninstall.
Uninstall the app
Uninstalling alone may leave desktop data or credentials behind. The Windows uninstaller (Settings → Apps) asks whether to delete your data folder, the app’s AppData folders, and its Credential Manager entries. On macOS and Linux, uninstalling leaves your data in place, so delete the folders above yourself. On iOS and Android, deleting the app deletes its data.
Revoke connected accounts
Deleting local data does not delete messages or files held by a connected service, or information an AI provider has already processed. Remove an account in Settings to delete its local connection and stored token, then revoke BotLegger’s access at the provider:
- Google account permissions (Google)
- Microsoft account permissions (Microsoft)
- GitHub authorized applications (GitHub)
For Google you can also tick Remove account on all devices when removing the account in the app, which has Google revoke BotLegger’s access on every device. For deleting data held by an AI provider, use that provider’s own controls.
If you have a BotLegger account
The desktop app asks you to sign in at first start, and the phone apps let you skip it. The account service stores your email address and sign-in sessions, whether you asked for release emails, a list of the devices signed in to the account (name, platform, app version, and when each first and last checked in), and, if you bought Pro, its status, your Paddle customer and subscription identifiers, and the Pro key issued for your subscription. It never stores your bots, conversations, files, memories, or your own provider keys.
To delete the account, open Settings → Account in the app and choose Delete account. You need to have signed in within the last ten minutes. If you cannot use the app, email support@botlegger.com from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it.
What is deleted
- The account, its device list, and its sign-in sessions.
- A live Pro subscription is cancelled and the Pro key is revoked.
What may be retained
- Paddle is the merchant of record for Pro and keeps customer, payment, and tax records under its own privacy policy and retention. Records Paddle must keep for tax and accounting are not deleted by deleting your account.
- Records of the Paddle notifications we processed (an event identifier, type, and time) are kept for 90 days.
- Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve requests, maintain support history, and meet legal obligations.
See the Privacy Policy for more, or write to support@botlegger.com with any question.
